Skinny Frozen Hot Chocolate
I'm trying very hard to keep this a light week. But if you're like me, you need a bit of dessert at the end of the day and yet you don't want to blow it and go overboard. This Skinny Frozen Hot Chocolate is creamy, chocolatey, satisfying and seemingly rich, but at only about 100 calories a cup, you can indulge and not feel guilty either!
Have you even been to Serendipity's in NYC? You generally have to wait quite a while for a table, but it's worth it. They make the most amazing frozen hot chocolate, thick, rich and covered with mountains of whipped cream and little shards of chocolate. Alas, this is not that, but it is very, very good and saves over 700 calories per serving!! Plus you can whip it up in a few minutes and be sucking it down before you're tempted to reach for the chocolate chips in the pantry!
The trick is to use skim milk and ice.
Next you throw it in the blender with some Ovaltine-I've made this both with the malt and chocolate flavored version-both are good. (And while we're on the subject of Ovaltine, has anyone recently seen Young Frankenstein? If you need a good laugh, watch that movie again-it's side-splitting funny!!)
Add a little unsweetened cocoa powder and blend it up for few minutes, until the ice is crushed and the mixture is nice and frothy. Then, simply pour it into a glass, top with a bit more cocoa powder if you like, add a straw, and away you go! Instant lo-cal dessert that will put a smile on your face without adding inches to your hips! So whenever you feel your willpower dwindling, get yourself into the kitchen and whip up one of these asap!!
